Eyre Square is a small public park based in the centre of Galway City. Off of Eyre Square you will find streets lined with restaurants, galleries and shops. Eyre Square is completely free to visit and at Christmas time they have a brilliant Christmas Market that fills the air with mulled wine and smells of freshly baked goods. It is a great place to grab a coffee and watch the world go by and decompress after a stressful nursing shift.

Salthill’s Promenade is a perfect spot for admiring the gorgeous sunrises and sunsets over Galway Bay, with stunning views of Clare hills in the distance. There are many exciting features to be found dotted along the promenade including Mutton Island Lighthouse and The Famine Ship Memorial at Celia Griffin Memorial Park. Kylemore Abbey is an abbey based on the edge of a mountain in Connemara run by the Benedictine nuns since the 1920s. The Abbey has a number of different experiences including the Walled Gardens, a Neo Gothic Church and of course the Abbey. Kylemore Abbey also has a coffee shop so it's a great place to grab a coffee and stretch your legs after a long nursing shift!

The Aran Islands are a group of 3 islands off the coast of Galway. Named Inis Mor (Inishmore), Inis Meáin (Inishmaan) and Inis Oírr (Inisheer) they are known for their ancient historical sites and being one of Ireland's World Heritage Sites. Inis Mor is the biggest island which is 9 miles long and 3 miles wide with a population of about 800 people. Inis Meáin is the middle island and Inis Oírr is the smallest island. You can access the Aran Islands by plane or ferry. Inis Mor was named the 2nd most popular staycation destination in Ireland, behind Letterkenny Donegal. With numerous different accommodation and nightlife options it's a great option for a relaxing overnight stay or day trip alike.
