All doctors practising medicine in Ireland must be registered with the Irish Medical Council. The Medical Council regulates medical doctors in the Republic of Ireland. The Council's purpose is to protect the public by promoting and better ensuring high standards of professional conduct and professional education, training and competence among doctors.
Depending on where you have qualified and trained will dictate what route you can apply for registration with the IMC.
Please consult the eligibility chart to check which route you should submit your application under. Once you have created your online account and submitted your online registration application, you will need to submit your supporting registration documentation, as outlined below.
If you have qualified outside of the EU/EEA and are applying for General Registration through the Certificate of Experience (COE) Route
