A Day in the Life: Recruitment Consultant Business Development

Ever wonder what a recruiter gets up to when they're not just making calls and setting up interviews?

Truth is, there's a lot more to the job than that! To give you an insight as to what goes on behind the scenes, we've started a 'Day in the Life' series where you can follow our team and see what they get up to during their working hours! Here's what our Nursing Recruitment Consultant, Molly, spent her day doing last week:

"Last Tuesday 13th of December, on a cold foggy winter day I set off to do a road trip visiting my local nursing homes with some yummy cupcakes to support our Business Development action plans. I purchased the cupcakes from a local baker (support local this Christmas!). We went for Christmas themed cupcakes opting for 6 cupcakes in a box; 3 with Christmas designs, and 3 with the Clarity Recruitment logo.

The day kicked off with a warm cup of tea, some emails and our Christmas Clarity Group conference call. Once we all admired our Christmas jumpers and gave a wave goodbye, I quickly grabbed my cosy winter boots and set off in the car to collect the cupcakes. The lineup for the day was to visit 7 nursing homes and residential facilities in my local community. We do this to try to build relationships and offer our recruitment services to local nursing homes and residential facilities. Once the cupcakes were collected and placed carefully into the car I set off to my first nursing home in a nearby town. I very carefully attached my business cards to the front, popped on my mask and set off to the nursing home reception to deliver them.

We try to give the treats to the director of nursing and the human resources department. It's essential to have a good first interaction with the Director Of Nursing and Human Resources department as this gives us the best chance of building a relationship with the facility. After my first nursing home visit was done, I headed off to my next nursing home which was in Limerick City.

This continued on for the rest of the day I got to visit 6 nursing homes until... BAM! I got a flat tyre which stopped me in my tracks. I was on my second last nursing home visit when I realised, and thankfully after a few SOS phone calls later, my dad was on the way to rescue me. With a new tyre put on I was onto my last nursing home visit and I made it home safe and sound at 16:50 - I had just enough time to finish my evening emails!

Since doing this road trip to my local nursing homes, it has really helped me to appreciate the fantastic nursing home facilities and residential homes we have in the area. Most nursing homes I visited had excellent entertainment for their residents and were decorated beautifully for Christmas. All of the nursing homes had a really cosy and comfortable feeling which is a credit to the nursing homes and all the employees making this possible.

In the future we are aiming to do business development visits to nursing homes and other locations on a regular basis. On these visits we can build relationships and discuss recruitment options that we have available for nursing homes.
The recruitment options we have available include agency nurses, permanent nurses, EU nurses and overseas nurses. We have a pipeline of nurses that are ready and available to start work immediately. We will organise the interview on the clients behalf and guide the candidate through interview preparation. After the interview is successful, we can support the employment offer to the nurse, while also helping the candidate with any pre-employment and Garda Vetting forms which need to be completed. We can even complete reference checks on your behalf!"
